We are delighted to provide a list of all bird species reported as sightings in our Annual Reports since the society was formed in 2003 As at 31st December 2019 a total of 239 species have been reported in the Wensum Valley that are currently recognised on the BOU list of UK Birds. Our list shows the scarcity and status of each species in our recording area. We have used the following abbreviations:-
Vagrant (V) A bird well outside its usual range Passage Migrant (P) Mainly a migrant in spring and/or autumn Resident (R) Breeds and present all year Winter Visitor (W) Mainly occurs in winter Summer Visitor (S) Mainly occurs as a breeding visitor in summer Naturalised (N) Introduced deliberately or accidentally by man and now breeds in the wild.
County or National rarities have not, as far as the society is aware, been reported to or accepted by the County Records Committee.
