View gravel pits and grazing meadows north and south of Salters Lane. Wildfowl may be seen
flying over Hell Pit (west end of Salters Lane) and Reed Lane Pit (north of the east end of Salters
Lane). Nearby Creaking Gate Pit is secluded by trees and is a continuation of the old gravel
workings. It has attracted wintering Bittern and Smew in the past.
