Bintree Mill and the surrounding land is private land owned by Paul Seaman, a keen conservationist. Just upstream of the mill on the north bank is a scrape that attracts a good range of winter dabbling ducks and Garganey have been recorded in spring.
Access Leaving Guist on the B1110 towards Dereham cross the R. Wensum and take the first road on the left. After about 300m park near a gate at TF997244. View across the river to the scrape.
Species In winter Teal, Shoveler and Wigeon are on the scrape. Little Egret and Grey Heron are usually nearby and Common Buzzard, Marsh Harrier, Hobby and Red Kite may be seen. Depending on the water levels Lapwing have bred. Grey Wagtails frequent the mill race area.
