Sunday 7th January 2018 : Annual Bird Count Coordinator: Lin Pateman

Would you like to join the club annual fun day out?
WHAT IS IT? The WVBS teams can set out at any time after 08.00hrs to find the most birds they can see or hear in the Wensum Valley recording area in daylight hours.
Rules: Teams can be 2-4 people, if two, both must see/hear the bird; if three, at least two must see /hear the bird; if four, at least three must see/hear the bird. Pensthorpe is out of bounds on the day. Sightings record sheets are provided and these can be returned to you, once data has been recorded .(copies attached to this month’s N/L). You can start anywhere within the WVBS area after 08.00hrs Teams must report back to the new club HQ at Lenwade/Great Witchingham Village Hall by 16.30hrs. To count the results and enjoy refreshments. We have a unique trophy awarded to the winning team. While this is seen as a competitive team event, it is a fun day and the main thing at the end of the day is that we produce a record of the birds seen in the Valley.
WHEN IS IT? The next event will be held on Sunday 7th January 2018. To sign up, see the list on the table at the November and December indoor meetings. There will be space for your preferences to join a team, lead a team, offer to drive a team and let us know your location for a meeting point.
Any new members, if you are wondering how much you need to know and would like to participate, please join us and put your name on the list. We will do our best to team you up with someone who knows the birding area. This is a great opportunity to gain some more birding experience.
Everyone is welcome to join us for tea/coffee and cakes at the HQ afterwards. Any queries, please contact Lin Pateman 01263 587262 or by e-mail: wvbs.secretary@gmail.com
