Outdoor Meeting: Sparham Pools : Sunday 30th December 2018 Co-ordinator Alwyn Jackson

Meet in the Reserve car park to start at 9.30am.
The walk will be around the reserve and surrounding area and will take about 3 hours. Good stout footwear recommended as the paths can be muddy but they are flat.
We will be looking for wintering and resident wildfowl, finches, buntings and thrushes. The walk is suitable for less experienced members as assistance will be readily available to identify the species present and to answer any questions. We will not be too concerned about finding as many species as possible but more with everybody getting good views of most of the birds present. The pace will be slow.
Directions. From Norwich take the A1067 for approximately 11 miles towards Fakenham. A mile beyond Lenwade, turn left down Lyng Road (sign-posted Lyng) and continue for 0.8 miles (if you reach the river bridge you have gone too far).Turn left down a narrow track just past a group of cottages on the left to the car park. This is well hidden so look out for the wooden public footpath sign on the left hand side of the road.
From Dereham take the old A47 for about 6 miles to Lyng. At the T-junction in the village turn right and continue through the village. As you leave the village go over the river bridge and look for the wooden footpath sign which stands at the entrance to the car park about 100 yards on the right. Please park tidily as space is at a premium, alternatively please try and car share.
The car park Post Code is NR9 5QY and the map reference is OS Landranger map 133 TG075178.
