November Highlights from Pensthorpe.

Wednesday 4th November: Chilly to start with, at about 2 ?C rising to 10 ?C, sunny at first with some
cloud as the morning progressed. The wind was brisk and from the northwest.
Water levels were still high, hence few waders with only 5 Lapwings flying west.
Highlights:
4 Cetti’s Warblers heard, but not seen, a flock of around 20 Lesser Redpolls with a few Goldfinches
mixed in, perched in trees in the Millennium Garden.
Circulating overhead, together, were a Marsh Harrier, a Red Kite and a Common Buzzard.
2 other Buzzards and another Red Kite were also recorded.
Corvids were still in good numbers with 33 Jackdaws and 66 Rooks.
Starlings with a count of around 70.
4 Reed Buntings and 3 Grey Herons with a single Little Egret also seen.
2 Marsh Tits and 6 Long-tailed Tits recorded, always nice to see.

Finally, in relation to birds, we come to ducks, with 65 Wigeon, 47 Gadwall, 55 Teal, 48 Mallard, 10
Tufted and 3 Pintail.
56 species in total.
On Old Squall Lake a nice record of an Otter and a female Goldeneye.
