Saturday 26th November – Chris Skinner’s High Ash Farm
Chris has won prestigious conservation awards for the way he runs his farm with a high percentage of the acreage being put down to wild bird food crops. One area is of 23 acres and should produce good numbers of finches and buntings by the time we go.
We will meet at the car park for the Roman Camp at Caister St Edmund (grid ref TG233033) to depart at 8.30a.m. There is car parking space for c.20 cars so it should not be a problem, but please car share where possible. This is a morning walk and should finish by about 12.30. Consideration will be given on the day to going on to a nearby site if the leader thinks there will be enough birds and members are interested.
Directions: From the Norwich Southern bypass take the A140 exit for Ipswich but take the small exit off the roundabout immediately before the southbound A140 to Ipswich. Go down this lane for about 1 mile, over a bridge across R .Tas to crossroads where you turn right sign posted Caistor St Edmund. A few hundred yards along you find the car park to the Roman Town on your right.
The walking is on good grassy paths and we will cover 3 to 3.5 miles in delightful rolling countryside. Wear stout walking shoes. Alas there are no toilet facilities!!
Please put your name on the Attendance List at the next indoor meeting or let Richard know (01603- 746723)if you wish to join him on this trip. In case of emergency on the day Richard’s mobile number is 07891010332
