Sunday 28th September – Field Trip to Cley

Co-ordinator –  Steve Chapman

Please note- The programmed trip to Cockthorpe and Stiffkey has been cancelled. It will now be to Cley NWT and the co-ordinator will be  Steve Chapman.

The walk will be a full day doing the complete Cley circuit. We will start at the beach car park for an hour’s early sea-watch, meeting at 8.15am (high tide is at 9.15). We will then head to the North Hide at 9.30am to view the North Scrape. Progress will then be along to Arnold’s marsh and down East bank. We will pop into Bishop’s hide for a look on Pat’s pool, then into the visitor centre for refreshments and facilities. After refreshment we will visit the central 3 hides for an hour or so. Finally, a walk along West bank back to the beach car park to pick up our cars..

Good birds are almost guaranteed on the Cley walk, although it is a route most members will have done before. Those people who don’t want to do the full circuit could join us for sections e.g. beach and N hide, then the central hides.
Please bring a packed lunch which you should be prepared to carry, or eat at the visitor centre which takes time and could be considered pricey. Stout footwear and waterproofs as usual. The path along the beach to North hide is rough shingle but there are boardwalks to the central hides. Be sure to take your NWT cards if you are a member as there is a charge for non members to visit the hides.
Please make sure that you put your names and contact number on the attendance sheet which will be available at meetings.
