Saturday 26th August – Field Trip to RSPB Snettisham and NWT Holme

coordinator Martin Spriggs

This is a club visit to catch the high tide at Snettisham. Although not as spectacular as in the winter,a good show is possible. High tide is forecast for 10.00 am.Please meet for a start at 08.00hrs at the car park off Beach Road . Post Code PE31 7PS or Grid ref. TF 652332. This should give plenty of time to view the waters alongside the footpath on the way to the main reserve and hides and also view the scrub bushes in this area.
Then we move along the coast to Holme Dunes. About 12 miles to `The Firs` the NWT centre . PE366LQ. Here are toilets and a small café on site. Please bring your NWT membership cards as a fee is payable for non-members. (£4.25). Gore Point and the dunes may provide good sightings.
Finally for those that wish, a viewing of Thornham Harbour to see what is about. Turn left down Staithe Lane which is the first road at Thornham and just before the village Hall.
Footpaths are usually good at this time of year.. Bring lunch and a flask and of course optics of choice.
