Saturday 1st July – NWT Upton Broad and Marshes – A Morning Walk

Leader Dr Pam Taylor, British Dragonfly Society

coordinator – Phil Borley

09.30am for 10.00am start.

This is one of the top ten dragonfly sites in the country! Upstream of Acle on the floodplain of the River Bure, Upton Broad and Marshes is one of NWT’s best-kept secrets. We will meet at Upton Fen Car Park grid ref. TG 380 137  Postcode NR13 6EQ The reserve car park is located between the villages of Upton and South Walsham, off Low Road, where permissive footpaths lead you through the fen. Nearest village; Pilson Green. The walk lasts about 2-21/2 hrs. and Pam will be able to identify any dragonfly / damselfly found or caught. There will also be some field guides on sale for purchase should anyone wish to do so. This reserve walk has a circular walk and anyone wanting to tour the reserve further in the afternoon, may do so. There is no fee payable to Pam; however a donation of £2.00-3.00 per person to the British Dragonfly Society would be appreciated.

If you think you might like to see dragonflies up close in the hand, then this is the walk for you. I have been on walks led by Pam before and found it most enjoyable. Paths on this site can be muddy/wet all year round, so please wear appropriate foot wear…it is a marsh!  If you wish to attend sign up at the next indoor meetings.
