Outdoor Meeting: Woodcock Walk at Sculthorpe Moor. Coordinator Mary Walker. Saturday 13th April 2019

Following the cancellation of last year’s Woodcock Walk due to extensive flooding on the Reserve, we are delighted to announce that The Hawk and Owl Trust at Sculthorpe Moor have invited WVBS members to attend a Woodcock Walk led by Nigel Middleton.

The Hawk & Owl Trust is a National UK Charity founded in 1969. It is dedicated to conserving Owls & Birds of Prey in the wild. By conserving the places that Owls & Birds of Prey nest and feed, many other associated species from field voles to skylarks, dragonflies to grass snakes are supported.

Our target bird on this trip is the Woodcock.

The car park will be open from 6p.m., please be ready to depart promptly at 7p.m with Nigel. Most of the walk is on boardwalk, but we will be venturing off piste, so waterproof shoes are recommended.

A supper of home-made soup (vegetarian) and rolls will be served to us in the Whitley Hide.

This promises to be a very entertaining evening, and something the club has not done before.

Numbers are restricted to 20 members, as the walk will involve wearing listening headsets, of which the Hawk & Owl Trust has 20 sets. Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis.

Date: Saturday 13th April

Time: 7p.m (prompt please) – 10p.m – ish

Place: Sculthorpe Moor Community Nature Reserve, Turf Moor Road, Sculthorpe, Fakenham NR21 9GN.

Cost: £8p.p. Inclusive of guiding by Nigel and a Soup Supper. Payable in advance please to Mary Walker.

Co-ordinator: Mary Walker

Please sign the attendance sheet and give payment to Mary at the next two Indoor meetings in February & March, or phone Mary on 01603 569897 / 07851 505743
