Indoor Meeting 20th June 2019. Dragonflies & Other Wildlife of Norfolk. Speaker Dr Pam Taylor.

We are delighted to welcome back Dr Pam Taylor who will fascinate us about dragonflies. Her background is as follows:

Pam’s childhood interest in bird-watching expanded over the years to include other wildlife including mammals, butterflies and finally, in 1986, dragonflies. This interest in dragonflies and their wetland habitats coincided with surveys for the first Norfolk dragonfly atlas and she soon became involved in recording activities. By the mid-1990s Pam had been asked to take over as Norfolk’s County Dragonfly Recorder, a role she still fulfils.

Pam first became a British Dragonfly Society Trustee in 2000; taking on the additional role of Dragonfly Conservation Group Convenor from 2001 until 2008 when she was elected BDS President. In 2013 Pam took a break from national duties, before once again becoming DCG Convenor and a BDS Trustee early in 2016. Pam’s main interests remain with dragonfly conservation and all the work she does is aimed at protecting their habitats and making people more aware of this fascinating group of insects. In recent years her interest has often taken her abroad to study and record dragonflies.

This event will be followed up by an outdoor meeting lead by Dr Taylor at Upton Fen, so we can put the theory into practice.
