29th June – Minsmere

Saturday 29th June – Minsmere           leader Ray Gribble

RSPB Minsmere is one of the best reserves in the country, with a great diversity of habitats. It has scrapes, open water, reedbeds, the sea, dunes, woodland and heath. Target birds will be Marsh Harrier, Bittern, Bearded Tit and, time allowing, Dartford Warbler on Dunwich Heath.
This will be an all day trip so please bring food and drink. Although these can be purchased from the cafe, if the birding is good we may not want to spend time there.

The walking is reasonable but after rain the paths can be very wet. Wear stout footwear and dress for the weather conditions on the day. If the wind is off the sea it can be quite chilly even in June.
Minsmere has toilets, a cafe and a shop at the reserve Visitor Centre. We will meet at Minsmere Visitor Centre at 9am which is when the reserve opens.

Bring your RSPB membership cards. Non-members £7.50 and concessions £5. (and National Trust cards in case we drive around to Dunwich Heath)
Feel free to opt out at any time but please inform the leader that you are leaving!
Please sign the attendance sheet at the next indoor meeting or phone leader Ray Gribble 01603 872709 (mobile 07771722889).
