Annual Wensum Valley Bird Count Sunday 5th January 2020 (8a.m – 4.30p.m)

The Annual Wensum Valley Bird Count

Leader/Coordinator: Lin Pateman

You can start anywhere within the WVBS area at 08.00hrs. Teams must report back to the club HQ at Lenwade/Great Witchingham Village Hall by 16.30hrs. to count the results and enjoy refreshments. We have a unique trophy awarded to the team with the most species at the end of the day. While this is seen as a team event, it is a fun day and the main thing at the end of the day is that we produce a record of the birds seen in the Valley.

Any new members, if you are wondering how much you need to know and would like to participate, please join us and put your name on the list. There will be a sign-up sheet at the November and December meetings. We will do our best to team you up with someone who knows the birding area. This is a great opportunity to gain some more birding experience.

If you wish to go out alone on the day and record any birds in our area and report back at the end of the day; please come and join us.

Outline Rules: Teams can be 2-4 people; if 2, both must see/hear the bird; if 3, at least 2 must see /hear the bird; if 4, at least 3 must see/hear the bird. Pensthorpe is out of bounds on the day, as are sites with no public access. Sightings record sheets and a full copy of the rules will be provided beforehand.

Everyone is welcome to join us for tea/coffee and cakes at the HQ afterwards.
