Notice of Annual General Meeting

The AGM of the Wensum Valley Birdwatching Society is to be held on Thursday 18th April 2019 at Great Witchingham Village Hall starting at 7.30pm.

The Agenda will be as follows:-

1. Apologies. 2. Minutes of the AGM held on 19th April 2018 (to be circulated beforehand). 3. Matters Arising. 4. Chairman’s Report (to be circulated beforehand). 5. Treasurer’s Report & Accounts for year ending 31st Dec 2018 (to be circulated beforehand). 6. Election of Officers and Committee. 7. A.O.B.

The brief business of the AGM will be followed by an illustrated talk by Gary Prescott, aka the Biking Birder entitled, “There’s a Tapir at the Door – Green Birding Adventures” – not to be missed!

Nominations. At the AGM members will have the opportunity to elect the Officers and Committee to take the Society forward over the next twelve months.

A Nomination Form is attached at the end of this newsletter for your use. You can make up to 11 nominations but please remember that you MUST ask your nominee if they are willing to stand.

All nominees need to be nominated by at least two of the membership – the equivalent of a proposer and a seconder.

We would stress that nominees do not need to be expert birdwatchers but just to have a desire to help our Society.

Nominations are required for President, Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer & the other seven members of the Committee. Please note the existing Officers & committee members will be stepping down so they will have to be asked if they are willing to stand.

If we are oversubscribed then a ballot will result. If we are under subscribed the new committee will have the right to co-opt committee members of up to a maximum of ten.

All nominations must be sent to our Returning Officer Allan Hale by Monday 8th April 2019 at 10 All Saints Way, Beachamwell, Swaffham PE37 8BT or by email to allan@ajhale.plus.com or hand the completed form to him at one of our meetings.

A message from Alwyn. Jackson – Club Chairman
As you may be aware I will be stepping down as the Chair of the WVBS at the forthcoming AGM in April.
I helped to establish the Society with Ray Gribble in 2003 and have served as Chair (for a total of 10 years) and Committee member since the inauguration of the Society so think it is time to step aside.
We are now looking for someone to take the Society forward over the next two years.
I hope that you derive great pleasure from your membership of our successful and friendly birdwatching society so I would urge you to consider being the Chair for two years so that the Society continues to thrive.
If you wish to know more about the Chair’s role I am happy to discuss this with you.
Thank you.
