Birds seen in February

A small selection of birds seen by members in the area in February:

  • Pink-footed geese – 200 over Lyng on the 22nd
  • Goosander – 12 at Sparham Pools 22nd
  • Grey partridge – 6 at Great Witchingham 17th
  • Red Kite – 21st at Great Ryburgh and 22nd at Sparham Pools
  • Hen Harrier – Great Ryburgh 21st
  • Water Rail – at Swanton Pits on 8th and Old Costessey 25th
  • Golden Plover – 1000 at North Tuddenham on 15th
  • Kingfisher – 2 at Scarning 22nd
  • Lesser Spotted Woodpecker – 1 at Sparham Pools 7th and Hoe 9th
  • Grey Wagtail at Attlebridge, Lenwade, Scarning and Worthing on various dates
  • Fieldfare – flocks of 50 and 70 at  Great Witchingham and at Mill Farm
  • Brambling at Fustyweed 1st and Attlebridge all month
  • Goldfinch in flocks 30 strong – Worthing 2nd and Kerdiston 26th
  • Siskin 40-70 Kerdiston, Scarning and Sparham Pools 1st – 26th
  • Lesser Redpoll at Scarning and Sparham Pools, Common Redpoll at Felthorpe
  • Yellowhammer – 400 at Rougham on the 1st
