Steve Cale has obtained permission from Tom Cooke, owner of Sennowe Park which is between Guist and Great Ryburgh, for Steve to lead a field trip to this important estate. This visit will follow on from Steve’s ID course on Raptors. Continue reading
Sunday 14th August – RSPB Havergate Island
Published April 23, 2011 | Havergate Island is an RSPB reserve, a small island in the River Ore, a 20 minute boat ride from Orford Quay (Grid Ref TM422499). There is an unmanned information/observation centre with map, a toilet, 4 hides and a viewpoint. A nature trail runs the length of the island and is approximately 1.25 miles long. The island consists of six saline lagoons surrounded by saltmarshes and mudflats.
In Spring and Summer avocets and terns breed, and in late summer migrating wading birds stop off to feed and roost. There are also many grassland butterflies.
The trip is restricted to a maximum of 24 people. Continue reading
Sunday 29th May – Lackford Lakes

The Reserve is 121 hectares with 12 lakes and 9 hides. We plan to visit 4 hides in the morning, break for lunch at the centre followed by a walk through the woodland and scrub and as many of the remaining 5 hides as time allows. So bring your packed lunch and MEMBERSHIP CARDS if you are a member of The Suffolk Wildlife Trust. Continue reading

There will be guided walks, many creative crafts, bird watching activities, nature quizzes, puzzles, face painting, local craft demonstrations, local conservation groups, a recycling display and lots more.
