Member’s Weekend 2015

Next years members weekend will be a visit to Dorset from the 7th to the 11th May. Migration will be in full swing, giving us the opportunity to see a very wide range of birds.
Dorset has the second largest day count of birds seen, only just behind Norfolk.
We will travel to Dorset on the 7th breaking our journey with a visit to the Lee Valley nature reserve before we tackle the dreaded M25. Time permitting we will call in at a reserve on the South side of London before getting to Dorset.

In Dorset we will visit the Portland Bird Observatory to see some ringing. Hopefully they will have netted some rarities. I have had contact with Neil Gartshore, editor of Where to Watch Birds in Dorset. Neil has provided me with a list of the best reserves and sites to visit enabling us to see a good range of birds.
On the way back to Norfolk and time permitting etc. we will go looking for Ringed Necked Parakeet’s.

To register an interest or for more information about this weekend please email me at alan.fordham.af@gmail.com or speak to me or Mary Walker at the next indoor meeting.
